The Haas VF-2SS is a 3-axis CNC vertical machining center whose reputation for simple operation and dependable output has made it a staple in job shops, production cells, and toolrooms. This 2021 VF-2SS provides X / Y / Z travels of 30 x 16 x 20 inches over a 36 x 14 inch T-slot table rated for 1,500 lbs, with up to 24 inches from spindle nose to table. The Super Speed spindle is rated at 12,000 RPM with a 30 HP spindle motor rating and runs 40-taper CAT40 tooling. A high-speed 30+1 side-mount tool changer with CT-style grippers handles tools up to 2.5 inch diameter, 11 inch length, and 12 lbs, with a 1.8 second tool change and 2.4 second chip-to-chip time. Rapid traverse of 1,400 ipm and cutting feeds to 833 ipm keep cycle times short. The machine runs the Haas Next Generation Control with touch screen, 1 GB program memory, Ethernet interface, WiFi connection, HaasConnect remote monitoring, HaasDrop file transfer, Media Display M130, Safe Run, rigid tapping, and early power-failure detection. Additional equipment includes a window air blast, 55-gallon coolant tank, and chip auger. The machine is configured for 220V 3-phase power.
Compared with the standard Haas VF-2, which is built around an 8,100 RPM spindle and a 20-pocket carousel tool changer, the VF-2SS steps up to a 12,000 RPM Super Speed spindle, faster 1,400 ipm rapids, and a 30+1 high-speed side-mount changer that cuts non-cutting time on every tool change. It also improves on earlier VF-2SS units built with the Classic Haas Control: the Next Generation Control adds a modern interface, built-in Ethernet and WiFi, HaasConnect monitoring, HaasDrop file transfer, and Safe Run, giving operators faster setup and better visibility into machine status. For a buyer, that means more spindle speed for aluminum and small-tool work, more tools at the spindle for complex parts, and a control platform current with today's Haas shop-floor tools, all in the same compact VF-2 footprint.
