The Haas UMC-750SS is a 5-axis CNC universal machining center with a reputation for straightforward programming and dependable uptime that has made it a staple in job shops, aerospace suppliers, medical device manufacturers, and mold shops. This 2016 UMC-750SS provides X 30 / Y 20 / Z 20 inch travels (762 x 508 x 508 mm) and a dual-axis trunnion table measuring 24.8 x 19.7 inches (630 x 500 mm) with standard T-slots, a precision pilot bore, and a 660 lb table capacity. The trunnion tilts +110/-35 degrees on the B-axis and rotates a full 360 degrees on the C-axis at up to 150 degrees per second, enabling 3+2 positioning and simultaneous 5-axis contouring. Power comes from a 15,000 RPM inline direct-drive 40-taper spindle rated at 30 HP, backed by 1,200 ipm rapids on X, Y, and Z and a 650 ipm maximum cutting feed. A 40+1 side-mount tool changer delivers 2.3-second tool-to-tool and 3.2-second chip-to-chip times. The machine is equipped with through-spindle coolant and the Haas CNC control with tool center point control (TCPC) and dynamic work offsets (DWO), High Speed Machining, user macros, coordinate rotation and scaling, rigid tapping, spindle orientation, expanded program memory, a remote jog handle, and wireless networking.
The UMC-750SS is the high-speed version of the Haas UMC-750, the standard-speed universal machining center Haas built on the same 30 x 20 x 20 inch platform. Where the UMC-750 runs an 8,100 RPM spindle and 1,000 ipm rapids, the UMC-750SS raises spindle speed to 15,000 RPM and rapids to 1,200 ipm, so finishing passes, small-diameter tooling, and aluminum work run at the surface speeds they need. It is also a major step up from building 5-axis capability on a 3-axis VMC with a bolt-on trunnion such as a VF-2 with a TR160: the integrated trunnion gives far more clearance, higher table capacity, and true full 5-axis control with TCPC and DWO. The result is a faster, more capable 5-axis machine in a compact footprint - one that turns multi-setup parts into single-setup jobs.
