The Makino F5 is a 3-axis CNC vertical machining center with a reputation for accuracy and stability that has made it a staple in die/mold, graphite, and precision part environments. This 2022 Makino F5 offers X/Y/Z travels of 35.4 x 19.7 x 17.7 inches, a 39.4 x 19.7 inch table, a 2,204 lb maximum table load, and 787 ipm rapid traverse and cutting feedrates. It is equipped with the optional 30,000 RPM HSK-F63 high-speed spindle, an integral dual-winding motor design rated at 29.5 HP (25% ED) and 14.8 HP continuous, with two electronic ranges and automatic Z-axis compensation for thermal accuracy. The tool changer accepts tools up to 4.72 inches in diameter and 17.6 lbs. The 30,000 RPM HSK-F63 spindle on this unit also steps well beyond the 20,000 RPM HSK-A63 spindle found on a standard F5, opening the door to smaller tools, higher surface speeds, and finer finishes in hardened steel, graphite, and aluminum.
