About Matsuura

Matsuura is a machine tool company based in Fukui, Japan, that was founded in 1935. The company began manufacturing and distributing lathes since the beginning, and later shifted to milling machines. By the 1960s and 1970s, the company had begun producing automatic controlled milling machines, numerically-controlled milling machines, and automatically controlled drilling machines and vertical machining centers. The company began exporting to the United States in 1975 and Matsuura manufactured machine tools were used by NASA on the Space Shuttle Discovery’s fuel tanks, making them 4 tons lighter than before. The company had shipped more than 20,000 machining centers by 2015. The company has also begun specializing in 3D printers.

Matsuura USA’s main office is located in St. Paul, Minnesota, with additional offices located all across the world in Germany, UK, Canada, and Taiwan.
